Project duration

2 years

The client is an e-commerce platform that specializes in selling e-books on chess. These books have an interactive component in which people can move chess pieces and play games. They wanted us to improve the UX/UI of both their site and the reader they have, which enables users to view and interact with the books offline in case they have downloaded them. We kicked off by creating a prototype whose stylistics served as a foundation for the desktop and mobile solutions that we then developed. The second part of the job involved augmenting the UX of the reader.

Project Functionality

UX Audit

The first phase of the project consisted in a thorough analysis of the existing solutions to expose their fortes and pinpoint the problem zones. This audit showed us which UX aspects are functioning up to the mark and which need reinforcing or even a complete overhauling.

Interface Design

At this stage, we employed the Figma platform to create a prototype with a unique style that was later used in developing the UI of the desktop and mobile versions of the site as well as in designing the look of the reader.

User Testing

Then we invited about a dozen of people who play chess as a hobby and make use of the e-books the client produces. They put the reader to the test by using it in all its functionalities and shared screens to compare notes. We meticulously recorded their expectations and complaints and used the feedback as guidance for enhancing the UX of the reader.

Client’s Feedback

Thanks to UXbee, Google Analytics data indicate an improved user journey through the revamped website. Site users also gave highly positive comments. The team demonstrated a seamless and organized workflow despite the time differences. Their commitment to the project was commendable.

Key Takeaways

When recruited to improve the UX/UI aspects of the client’s resources, our seasoned mavens leveraged the Figma platform to develop a prototype for mobile and web devices, created UI graphics design for both, and leveled up the UX of the reader they had. The superb stylistics of the software's front-end, consistent across all solutions the customer utilizes and the responsive UX all of them manifest earned the highest esteem from the much-obliged client.
